Another Purchasing Consortium Affiliates to Electronics Watch
Electronics Watch is pleased to announce the affiliation of the Southern Universities Purchasing Consortium (SUPC) in the UK. SUPC is a membership-based buying organization for universities and further education colleges that develops and manages framework agreements. SUPC leads the procurement of servers and storage equipment as well as IT-related parts and accessories for UK higher education institutions and other members.
"SUPC is committed to acquiring goods and services for its members without causing harm to others," said Susan Wright, Head of SUPC. "Affiliating to Electronics Watch is an important step forward, and will allow us to have eyes and ears on the ground in producer regions to ensure rights violations are detected and properly addressed."
SUPC will incorporate the Electronics Watch contract clauses in relevant framework agreements and engage contractors to ensure compliance with labour rights and safety standards in their supply chains based on Electronics Watch monitoring. SUPC affiliation does not presently extend to SUPC member universities.
SUPC joins two other UK purchasing consortia, the London Universities Purchasing Consortium (LUPC) and Advanced Procurement for Universities and Colleges (APUC), as affiliates, demonstrating the sector's strong commitment to social responsibility in global supply chains. APUC recently became the first consortia to affiliate on behalf of all its member institutions.
