Our work can be divided into three areas:
Building the capacity of public buyers to implement responsible public procurement
We build the capacity of affiliated public buyers to adopt and implement socially responsible procurement policies and systems, and to use their leverage effectively to protect and promote the rights of workers in their supply chains.
Electronics Watch supports its affiliates to exercise collective leverage by coordinating case follow-up, engaging common suppliers together, and helping them to harmonize their requirements. We also facilitate learning and exchange between public buyers so that each organisation can benefit from the expertise and experiences of the wider network.
Coordinating worker-driven supply chain investigations, together with our civil society monitoring partners
Our international network of monitoring partners provides workers with an external grievance channel and public buyers with detailed information from key manufacturing and mining regions. Our worker-driven monitoring methodology builds trust and puts workers' needs and concerns first. This is why Electronics Watch investigations often detect human rights issues that get missed by corporate audits.
Labour rights compliance in the electronics and automotive sectors is dominated by industry-owned data. The evidence we collect through worker-driven approaches provides public buyers with a critical perspective needed to effectively enforce their social requirements.
Facilitating the remediation of identified human rights abuses
We seek to meaningfully engage workers and their representatives in efforts to address the identified issues. This contributes to more sustainable solutions and supports access to more timely, effective remedy where harm has occurred. Electronics Watch pursues remedy for business-related harms in public supply chains through structured industry engagement, supporting unions, and facilitating individual and collective action by affiliates.
