Electronics Watch publishes new Contract Conditions and Code
We are excited to launch v3.0 of the Electronics Watch Contract Conditions and Code!
The Contract Conditions are a valuable procurement tool for public buyers, providing a framework for monitoring and addressing human rights issues in their supply chains. The Conditions are designed to function in a system with the Electronics Watch Code, which also serves as the basis for our monitoring activities. Both are intended for inclusion in contracts between Electronics Watch affiliates and their contractors, or can be used as general references or templates to support the development and implementation of socially responsible public procurement.
You can find out more about how to use them here.
What’s new?
The Contract Conditions are much shorter and sector agnostic, with a greater emphasis on shared responsibility, access to effective remedy, and meaningful stakeholder engagement. They promote continuous improvement throughout contract performance.
The Code is now more harmonized with other codes of conduct, particularly the ETI Base Code. It spells out the actual contractor commitments, rather than the underlying international standards.
English versions of the Contract Conditions and Code are available as stand-alone documents and in a single file. Translations into French, Dutch, German and Spanish are forthcoming.
