Addressing modern slavery in public supply chains
Affiliates can register now for our regional event in London on 15 December! Co-hosted by the London School of Economics and political science, it will explore challenges related to modern slavery, from the conditions facing workers to how to address these in their procurements.
The event will explore different challenges related to modern slavery, from the underlying labour conditions facing workers to addressing these in affiliate procurements. Each interactive session will conclude with ideas and solutions to the problems presented. The day will also include dedicated time for networking and experience sharing.
The first session will focus on southeast Asia and the experience of workers, presenting the complexities of modern slavery through case studies from the ElectroPower project: a nickel smelter in Indonesia, and two manufacturing sites in Malaysia and Thailand. The rest of the day will explore practical approaches to integrating modern slavery requirements into public tenders, and addressing instances of modern slavery during contract performance.
