Welcome Peter Pawlicki, Director of Outreach and Education
Electronics Watch is thrilled to announce the hiring of Peter Pawlicki, Director of Outreach and Education. Based in Germany, Peter will be working to support and recruit public sector buyers in Europe and elsewhere, and coordinate Electronics Watch's role in the Make ICT Fair project. This is a new 3-million euro EC funded project that will address both manufacturing and mining in the electronics industry though policy, finance, and public procurement strategies.
Peter has an MA in Political Science and PhD in Sociology from Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University, having focused his doctorate on "Engineers and Work in Global Design Networks of the Semiconductor Industry." He has been researching the globalisation of the electronics industry and its effects on working conditions and labour rights since 2002. Peter comes to Electronics Watch from IG Metall, where he served as Political Secretary/Project Coordinator.
Peter, who is not a newcomer to Electronics Watch, having contributed to its initial set-up in 2013, and as a member of the advisory group since, comments: "I am very excited to be able to directly contribute to a lasting change and improvement of the situation of workers worldwide in the the electronics industry."
