2016 December 3

Welcome to London!

Electronics Watch is proud to welcome affiliates, Electronics Watch monitoring partners, and advisors to the first annual meeting of affiliates to be hosted at Greenwich University in London on December 7. Participants will also join the Greenwich Symposium on Modern Slavery, Human Trafficking and Human Rights Risks in Global Supply Chains: Roles and Responsibilities of Public Buyers, taking place on the following day.

Interest in both these events has been very high, evidence of the growing international movement for socially responsible public procurement and the commitment of the public sector to address human rights risks in its procurement of electronics and other products. The Symposium will feature key note speaker Baroness Lola Young of Hornsey, OBE. Expert panels will discuss modern slavery, human trafficking and human rights risks from the perspective of local labour rights organisations, explain policy responses, and discuss public procurement strategies. The Symposium is co-organised by the Business, Human Rights, and the Environment Research Group, the London Universities Purchasing Consortium, and Electronics Watch.
